Currently we offer hosting only on Windows 2003 platform.   We offer advance services such as MS SQL database and commercial grade email solutions with virus and spam filtering running on either Linux or FreeBSD.  We also offer mySQL databases and PHP scripting support so that you can run wide array of applications.

5: I see you offer multi-domain hosting under one account. Do you setup these multiple websites as separate IIS virtual websites or point the additional domains using host headers to sub-folders of the main website as some other providers do who advertise multi-domain hosting?
At ForteHosting.com you can host multiple domains under a single account as well as multiple sub domains.  Both the domains and the sub-domains you can host are actual IIS websites on the server and come with their own email and DNS resource. 

Most providers advertise multiple domain hosting under one account but all they offer is point these extra domains to your one IIS website and then give you a script on the server side that utilize Response.Redirect commands to point requests for these additional domains at a sub folder inside your one IIS website.  Additionally, you are not allow to host email and setup DNS records for these additional domains.

6: What if I don't have a domain name?
When you open a web hosting account, we instantly provide you with a temp-domain on our servers such as d3000.u28.fortehosting.com. You can keep this domain as long as you want. If you use the above name to access your web site, you don't need a domain name?

This depends on the account your sign up for.  Generally, there is one time setup fee on all monthly accounts.  The yearly accounts currently would have no setup fee.

We have hosting plans to offer plenty of disk space from 50 MB up to 10,000 MB. If you use more disk space then your plan specifies, we simply upgrade you to our next hosting plan. 10,000 MB is sufficient for most demanding web applications, however for space above 10,000 MB, kindly contact our customer service for a custom quote.

DNS stands for 'Domain Name Servers'. DNS servers translate domain names such as 'yourname.com' into virtual directories (on our servers) which hold your web sites.

Auto responders are system generated e-mail messages that are generated depending upon conditions you specify. For example, you can set auto responders to send a confirmation e-mail when ever someone sends email or submits an inquiry or payment form on your website.

Yes every business hosting account with us gets statistical analysis done with Webalizer Traffic Analyzer software package. Webalizer Traffic Analyzer is a powerful tool that runs numerous analysis on your site and presents them in easy to understand graphical format. To access web statistics, enable this feature from your control panel.  These stats are processed once per day on the server.

25: How do I sign up for a hosting account?  
Just visit the hosting plan pages or the plans comparison page, click 'Add to shopping cart' button next to the plan your intend to buy to add the item to the shopping basket.  From shopping basket page, you can click 'Checkout' icon to proceed to the payments page. 

Please contact our customer support or sales if you need assistance at any time.  If you have previously signed any hosting account with us and like to sign up for additional plans or services, then simply create a ticket form your hosting control panel or send email to support.  This way we will setup the new plan and charge your existing billing information, without you having to resubmit your payment information again at the checkout page.

26: Do you support Dot Net Nuke? 
Yes, we support Dot Net Nuke version 4.5.0 and above starting with our Win Business plan and above.

27: Can I have you point host heeders to sub domains that I am allocated with my hosting plan?  Can you point them to regular hosted domains?
You can have us point host headers to regular hosted domains inside your control panel but not to sub domains.  Unlike other hosts, we setup all regular domains and sub domains as IIS websites on the web server with their own dedicated Dot Net, PHP, Perl and other web server resources and therefore due to cost considerations we request that you purchase additional website resources to setup as additional domains or upgrade to a higher plan.  Please keep the host header request to 5 or less per regular website.

28. What extension domain names do you register?

A. We register domains with various extensions or TLDs.  Please visit our Domain Registration page for updated information.

29. Do I own the domain name I register through you?

A. Yes, you own the domain name registered through us.  We send you a confirmation email as well as an login information to manage the domain name in question so you are free to transfer it to another registrar if needed.

30. Can I get a refund on the domain name I register? If I don't want it any more?

A. No, once registered all domain registrations are final.  You can drop a domain name you don't want but it is not possible to get a refund on a registered domain name.
    In case you submit a request for registering a domain name and you wish to cancel that registration, kindly email our support team as soon as possible.  If we have not yet registered that domain we will refund your account completely or will not charge your account.

31. How long before my domain name shall start functioning?

A.  When you open a hosting account with us, your website starts functioning right away.  But when you want your domain name to translate to your web site, it take about 12-48 hours before the translation actually begins to take place from around the globe.

32. How do I know if my domain name is still available?

A. To find out if the domain name you want (ending with .com, .net, .org extensions) is available, kindly use our domain name checking tool which is also available at top of each page.  This tool in real time informs you if your domain name is available and offers you to register it.  Please note that in a very few cases, the domain lookup tool may not show correct availability status on a domain name.

33. How do I transfer an existing domain to your severs?

A. The way you transfer your domain varies.  For example, if you have registered your domain name through us, you ask us to modify your domain name record.  All domain name record modifications are free of charge.  However, if you have registered your domain name through other registration authorities, such as Network Solutions or Register.com you would follow their procedures to affect such a change.
    Note that we offer hosting for international domains as well.  To transfer an international domain such as names ending with extensions other than .com, .net or .org, you need to contact a registration authority specific your country.

34. Who is InterNIC?

A.  InterNIC is an independent registration authority which is responsible for maintaining all domain names records that end with .com, .net and .org extensions.

A.  At this time, we only accept charge cards as a payment medium for web hosting and domain registrations.  To minimize cost, increase efficiency and pass on savings to our customers we accept only charge cards for web hosting and domain registration.  However, if a charge is greater than $500 we can consider other forms of payments such as personal/cashiers check or money order.

38. Is there a minimum contract that I must sign for web hosting?
A.  There are no contracts and therefore you can sign up for monthly hosting.  However, we do have discounts for longer terms such as for yearly plans.

39. I am unable to use SMTP using MS Outlook or another email client - what port shall I use?

A.  Some ISPs block the standard SMTP port 25 due to various legitimate concerns so if SMTP does not work for you when you use your e-mail client then please set it up to work on port 587.
